Gaming dens are things of beauty and with an anticipated 3.5 billion active gamers on the planet in 2025, it’s not surprising if a lot of homes have a room or at least a corner of a room dedicated to gaming. This is a great start, but a lot of people feel uninspired or even bored by the space and want to spice it up. There’s a lot to be said for checking out Pinterest, but that can also be a pretty daunting process – if you’re not up for installing false ceilings with lights strung up behind them or motion-sensor equipment that turns the whole system on when you step into the room… well, don’t panic. There are plenty of simple steps you can take that will notch up the ambiance and create a gaming den that anybody will envy.
Make It Comfy
It’s sort of a no-brainer that your gaming den should be comfortable but you’d be amazed by how many people skip over this step for the sake of aesthetics. Don’t get us wrong: the looks matter! A lot! They’re just not the most important thing. You’re not going to use your gaming den, no matter how swish it appears, if you’ve got a stiff back and sore arms after half an hour of sitting in it.
So that brings us to comfort. You should absolutely make sure your setup is comfortable. If you’re playing with a console and TV, you might invest in a gaming chair, but be aware that some of these put looks over functionality and comfort. An office chair is often less stylish but can be more comfortable. If you’re going to be sitting at a desk and playing PC games, having a good chair is non-negotiable. A lot of gamers prefer a PC these days because of the plethora of games on offer, from titles like World of Warcraft to a myriad of slots options at casinos. The world is pretty much your oyster when you look to the PC for your gaming fun… and that brings us to the next bit of our setup.
Get A Great Monitor
Whether you’re playing on a TV or a monitor, make it good. In fact, make it great. You’re going to be staring at that screen for hours on end when you’re gaming and you need an amazing, high-quality monitor to get the best out of games today. The graphics are too good to miss out on!
That’s not just the case for the high-end titles. Browser games, indie games – beautiful graphics are becoming almost par for the course. If you’ve ever checked out an online casino, you’ll see what we mean here. The slots games available are a visual feast, a treat for the eyes, using colors galore and crisp, precise imagery. No boring cherries or “BAR” images here (well, there are if you play retro slots, but even those look amazing). This is just one example of how incredible graphics are these days, and there’s no doubt that the slots are visually delightful.
You can make the most of that by ensuring your screen is “on point” as they say. Crisp lines, good colors – you don’t have to go 4K if you’re not ready for that leap yet, but go for high end, and make sure the refresh rate is good enough to keep up with the games you want to play.
Doing this transforms the whole gaming experience, whether you’re plunging through the Wild West in Red Dead Redemption 2, fighting monsters in Final Fantasy XV, platform-jumping in Hollow Knight, or testing your luck in high volatility slots. A good screen is the make-or-break of any gaming experience, so put it at the center of your gaming den build and enjoy.
Plus, it will let you make the most of movies as well as games! If you’re watching a great anime series or the next big blockbuster, it will all come down to how good your screen is, and that’s why we consider this one of the biggest determining factors in a gaming den.
Decorate
What about the details? Well, we’re not going to suggest you clutter up your gaming den with a dozen knick-knacks, but… you should have a few bits and pieces. Memorabilia is, after all, the sign of a truly dedicated gamer.
Maybe you’re going to put a stack of poker chips by your keyboard or even purchase a miniature version of your favorite slot game. Perhaps you’ve got a Cloud Strife plushie balanced atop the monitor. Maybe you’re going to combine this tip with our first one and scatter your gaming couch with themed cushions or a beautiful throw. Posters can be a great option; they add detail, personality, and color without absorbing any floor or shelf space. Whatever it may be, splash out, commit, and make your gaming space truly yours.
